What is a Doorstep Sport Club?

A Doorstep Sport Club provides a vibrant and varied sporting offer to young people in disadvantaged communities that is designed to grow their motivation and ability to adopt a sporting habit for life.

The coaches who run the clubs will be special people - skilled in leading sport as well as in supporting young people to make the best of themselves. The coaches will be local and know the communities they work in. The young volunteers who co-run the clubs will gain new skills and qualifications and grow as they learn to lead.

History

In January 2012, the new Government and Sport England’s 2013-2017 Youth Sport Strategy - Creating a sporting habit for life - was launched. StreetGames’ role in the strategy is to lead the creation of 1000 new Doorstep Sport Clubs for young people (aged 14-25 years old) in deprived areas. The new Doorstep Sport Clubs will draw on the increasing expertise of a large number of agencies delivering doorstep sport – sport at the right time, for the right price, in the right place and in the right style.

Doorstep Sport Club branding

If you are a Streetmarked / DSC Delivery organisation we would encourage you to use the relevant branding alongside your own logos to promote your sessions. Both the StreetGames logo and Doorstep Sport logo are downloadable below. If you are in doubt about whether you should be using these logos please contact StreetGames HQ on 0161 707 0782

We have two versions of these, the universal version and the women's specific version. We have also created our 'initial D' logos, perfect for your social media buttons! Just click to use!

If you need these logos in alternative formats, or have any questions please just contact lian [dot] lawrence [at] streetgames [dot] org

Creating an eye catching and appealing visual identity/brand is important to help promote the sessions you are offering to attract young people. Think about ensuring the relevant information is included – time/venue/price and any other important information.
The templates below have been designed to help you promote your sessions.
